Just when you think you’ve got everything covered, somebody invents a new technique or revives an old one. In this case, it is a little bit of both. Caroline-rigged plastic worms require a bit longer rod to handle the long leaders associated with the technique, while deep-water jig fishing is much easier with a long rod because it increases the leverage during the hook set and moves more line. The 733 is excellent for both applications. Not to mention the new oversized crankbaits that anglers have incorporated to reach deep ridges and mid-lake humps. While you want a lighter tip to allow the plug to wobble enticingly, you also want a little extra backbone to handle the larger baits like the ⅝ ounce Fat Free Shad or the big Bombers. It is a matter of leverage, and this rod makes the job a lot easier.

FSC ISR 662-1

$245.00

One of our most versatile warmwater light casting rods, the ISR 662 has a fast taper for a more positive hook set and greater casting distance. The length provides better line and lure control, especially in deep water, where slack line may cost you a fish. It is a good choice for fishing minnow baits like the Long-A and Rapala, and the preferred rod for split-shotting worms and grubs. For walleye and bass, this is a good light spinnerbait and crankbait rod. It doubles nicely for a lot of light saltwater uses, too, including redfish, specks, small snapper and even permit, with more than enough power to handle the occasional lunker.

$245.00

A good choice for fishing light to medium jigs and worms, as well as medium to large spinnerbaits. The MBR 703 was designed to fish bass, northerns, walleyes and even lake trout in certain applications. But it also makes a very nice light saltwater rod for snook, redfish and specks. It is powerful, with a light tip, which allows for a good hook set, and still has enough power to move fish away from heavy cover, without feeling too stiff. An excellent choice for spoon jigs, large crankbaits and “slug-o” type baits, this may be the most versatile rod in our entire line.

FSS ISR 702-1

$245.00

This is an extremely fast-action spinning rod designed to fish light-duty spinner rigs and bottom bouncers like the Lindy rig, especially where clear water demands the use of light line. It is not an ultralight: the tip’s light enough to cast small jigs and jig/leech combos, but it has a powerful butt section. That means excellent lure, line and fighting control whether you’re back-trolling or drifting. And because of its high-modulus sensitivity, this rod is a definite advantage when the bite gets super soft.

SWC SJR 732-1

$495.00

The SJR 732 has a fast taper for long-range casts and the perfect blend of power and feel for deep-water jigging. When you sweep the rod, a lot of line moves - and that makes it a good choice for heavy-duty split shotting and light-duty Carolina rigs. It makes an excellent buzzbait rod and the 7’3” length aids in ripping minnow baits over deep-water humps and points. What’s more, it handles wind and larger baits equally well. Saltwater anglers, meanwhile, will like its powerful, fast action for shallow water applications where cover is sparse but the fish make long, powerful runs.
